Gábor Bochkor’s Spanish Escape: A Home Purchased from Puskás’ Grandson
A Longstanding Love Affair with Spain
Gábor Bochkor, a beloved voice on Hungarian radio for many years, has cultivated a deep connection with Spain. Over time, he’s embraced the Mediterranean lifestyle, adopting local customs like enjoying a small beer with his morning pan con tomate (tomato bread).
“I’m not kidding, it’s wholly normal there,” Bochkor shared with a laugh. “A small glass of beer for breakfast – no one is an alcoholic, they just start the day relaxed. And it’s really good in that heat.”
This gratitude for the relaxed, sunny Spanish lifestyle has led Bochkor to purchase a permanent apartment in Benidorm, transforming a favorite vacation spot into a second home.
An Unexpected Connection: The Puskás Family
The story of Bochkor’s new home is particularly remarkable. While searching for a property with a realtor, he encountered the seller – a Spanish man with two boxer dogs – who revealed a surprising family connection.
We looked at several places with a realtor. In one of them, we were welcomed by a Spanish man with two boxer dogs – of whom, I must admit, I was quite scared. We were looking at the apartment when he asked if we were Hungarian. We said yes,and he said: “My wife is also Hungarian, the granddaughter of Ferenc Puskás.” I say, come on?!
Bochkor recounted, adding that the seller then produced a collection of Ferenc puskás T-shirts, solidifying the amazing coincidence.

Benidorm: A New Chapter
Bochkor’s purchase signifies more than just acquiring a property; it represents a deeper integration into the Spanish way of life. He describes Spain as a place were everything feels easier, where people are relaxed, and the pace of life is slower.
Somehow everything is easier in Spain. People are relaxed, the rhythm of life is calmer, the sun is always shining. it totally fills me up. Now I really have a piece of Spain
As Story.hu reports, Bochkor feels he now truly has a piece of spain.
