Putin⁢ Open to Talks with Trump, ​Claims ⁣Russia Holds Upper‌ Hand in ukraine

Moscow, ⁢Russia ⁤- Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed willingness ⁤to engage in discussions with President-elect Donald Trump ⁤”at any time,” responding to Trump’s recent pronouncements about brokering‌ a peace deal in Ukraine.

Speaking at his annual end-of-year press conference, a rare prospect ⁣for Russian journalists and citizens to directly question the president, Putin stated, “I don’t know when I will see him. He ⁤hasn’t said anything about it. It’s been more then four years ​since I last spoke with him. I am prepared for it, of course. At ‍any ⁤time.”

Putin,‌ who has ‌led russia for over ⁣two decades, acknowledged the ⁤war’s​ toll, saying, “These three years… of course, were a serious test for all of us, for the whole country and for me…I started joking less, and almost stopped laughing.”

However, he asserted that Russian ⁤forces maintain control on the battlefield and expressed regret for not launching the offensive sooner.

When asked about potential ‍concessions to Trump, Putin dismissed the ⁤notion of russia being in a weakened position, claiming the ‌country has grown stronger since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“We have always said that ‌we are ready to negotiate​ and reach compromises,”​ Putin stated. “The problem is that the other side, both literally and‍ figuratively, refuses ‍to negotiate…”

He⁤ emphasized the progress ​of Russian forces, asserting⁤ they are advancing ⁢towards their primary objectives in Ukraine.

“Soon ther ⁢will be no Ukrainians ⁤who want to fight,”‌ Putin declared. “In my opinion, soon⁣ there will⁢ be no ⁢one left who wants to fight. We ⁤are ready,but the other side has to be⁣ ready both to negotiate and to‍ make compromises…”

“We don’t need a truce, we need peace, long-term, secured with ‍guarantees for the Russian Federation and its citizens,” he concluded.
