Putin Threatens NATO Countries After Ballistic Missile Strikes in Ukraine
Putin Threatens NATO with Ballistic Missile Strikes
In a television address, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the recent ballistic missile strike on Dnipro is a response to Western missile attacks on Russian territory. He announced that Russia used the missile named “Oreshnik” and warned that it could be aimed at military targets in NATO countries in the future.
Putin claimed, “We believe we have the right to use our weapons against the military facilities of those states that allow their weapons to be used against our targets. If aggressive actions escalate, we will respond in a decisive and mirrored way.”
He described the “Oreshnik” missile, tested on November 21, as a medium-range ballistic missile. Putin stated that there are currently no defenses capable of stopping the “Oreshnik” missiles, which strike at speeds of 2 to 3 kilometers per second. He mentioned that existing missile defense systems are ineffective against these missiles.
The Russian President said that the future use of medium and shorter-range missiles will depend on the actions of the United States and its allies. He asserted that the conflict in Ukraine has taken on a global dimension following the Western missile strikes against Russia.
