PWHL sets 2026-27 opening weekend for Dec. 5-6 with broadcast partners

The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced that the 2026-27 regular season will open the weekend of Dec. 5–6, 2026, with six games featuring all 12 teams, including the debut of the league’s four expansion franchises. The opening slate introduces major broadcast partnerships, featuring CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and ION in the United States.
Opening Weekend Matchups and West Coast Rivalries
Season 4 begins on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET at the Pacific Coliseum, where the Vancouver Goldeneyes and Seattle Torrent renew their Pacific Northwest rivalry. This marks the second straight year that the league’s first West Coast teams open the season against each other. At 7 p.m. ET on Dec. 5, 2026, the reigning Walter Cup champion Montréal Victoire host PWHL Hamilton at Place Bell. That matchup marks the first women’s hockey game featured on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, which enters its 90th consecutive season of broadcasting. Radio-Canada will also provide exclusive live French-language audio coverage for all Montréal Victoire games across Canada. Simultaneously at 7 p.m. ET, PWHL San Jose becomes the first expansion team to play on home ice by hosting the Minnesota Frost at the SAP Center. The game airs nationally in the United States on ION as part of a season-long partnership with Scripps Sports announced on Sept. 9.
Sunday Slate and Expansion Showdowns
Action continues on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. ET with an Ontario provincial rivalry game between the Ottawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres at the Canadian Tire Centre. At 3 p.m. ET, the New York Sirens host the Boston Fleet at the Prudential Center. The opening weekend concludes at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 6, 2026, with the league’s first all-expansion matchup at T-Mobile Arena, where PWHL Las Vegas hosts PWHL Detroit.
Ticketing and Upcoming Schedule Release
Tickets for all 12 home openers went on sale at 11 a.m. ET. Fans can purchase Season Ticket Memberships, Half Packs, or flex packs through the league’s ticketing portal. The full 2026-27 schedule and remaining national broadcast details will be released on Friday, Oct. 2.
