Pyramids Club Draws 1-1 Against Rwanda Army in African Champions League

Pyramids Club drew 1-1 against Rwanda Army in the round of 32 of the African Champions League on Saturday.

Pyramids hosted Rwandan Army in the first leg of the African Champions League Round of 32.

In the 11th minute, Pyramid missed a goal after Mayele ran onto the ball and then took a shot that went near the right post of the Rwandan Army goal.

The Rwandan army responded with a powerful shot by Rubenika from long range, but it was blocked by Ahmed El-Shenawi in the 21st minute.

Pyramids tried again on 37 minutes after a dangerous attack, and Karim Hafez’s start and ground cross was met by Mustafa Fathi’s powerful shot, but it went over the Rwandan army goal and out of bounds.

The first half events ended in a goalless draw between Rwanda Army and Pyramids.

The 50th minute witnessed an own goal for the Rwandan army when Mohamed El-Shaibi scored against his side Pyramid to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

In the 66th minute, the Rwandan army fired a powerful shot, which was blocked by the Pyramid’s defense, and then Ahmed El-Shenawi blocked another shot.

Pyramids almost equalized in the 73rd minute with Mohamed El-Shaibi’s powerful shot from a set-piece from outside the penalty area, but it went to the left of the Rwandan Army goalkeeper and went wide.

In the 83rd minute, Pyramids managed to equalize after Abdel Rahman Magdi’s corner kick in the penalty area and Mayel headed into the Rwandan Army net to make the score 1-1.

Match Result and Next Steps

The match between Rwanda Army and Pyramid ended 1-1.

With this result (1-1), Pyramids now have the advantage of qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Champions League thanks to Miley’s goal.

The return match between Pyramids and Rwanda Army is scheduled to take place next Saturday at the Air Defense Stadium.

Pyramids have to come away with a negative result (0-0) in the return leg or win any result to progress to the CAF Champions League group.

The Celestial side are participating in the African Champions League for the second time in their history after last season’s edition, where they were satisfied with a group stage exit.
