Teh New Upgrade Opportunity
Qantas Frequent Flyer members now have a new avenue to experience premium travel: the ability to upgrade eligible Jetstar flights to Qantas-operated services using their points. This development, announced recently, offers a compelling option for travelers seeking a more pleasant journey, especially on routes where both airlines operate.
How the Upgrade System works
The upgrade process involves checking for availability on eligible Jetstar bookings. Not all Jetstar flights are eligible, and availability will depend on demand and cabin class. The number of points required for an upgrade varies based on factors like the original Jetstar fare, the destination, and the class of service on the Qantas flight. Crucially, the Qantas flight must be operated by Qantas – codeshare flights are not included.
To initiate an upgrade, members should log into their Qantas Manage Booking portal. This is also where you can manage other aspects of your flight, such as seat selection and meal preferences. The upgrade option will appear if your booking is eligible.
Eligibility and Considerations
Several factors determine upgrade eligibility. The Jetstar booking must be made directly through Jetstar or Qantas. It’s critically important to note that some fare types might potentially be excluded from the upgrade program. Additionally, upgrades are subject to availability, and Qantas reserves the right to limit the number of upgrades offered on any given flight.
Passengers should also be aware of the potential for changes to their itinerary if an upgrade is accomplished. This may include a different departure time or a change in connecting flights. It’s always advisable to review the updated itinerary carefully after completing the upgrade process.
Managing Your Booking and Check-In
Qantas provides several options for managing your booking, including online check-in.According to Qantas’ check-in options page, online check-in is available from 24 hours up to 90 minutes before an international flight and 24 hours up to 30 minutes before a domestic flight. seat selection is also available during online check-in, allowing passengers to choose their preferred seat on the Qantas flight.
If you need to refund, change, or cancel your flight, this can also be done through the Manage Booking portal, tho fare conditions and potential fees will apply.
