Qualcomm unveiled four artificial intelligence-based broadband communication products on October 12, 2026, ahead of the Network X 2026 event in Vienna, Austria, thelec.kr reported. The portfolio combines on-device AI—which processes AI computations directly on hardware—with network intelligence to boost response speeds, increase security, and simplify carrier operations.
Qualcomm Unveils Four AI Communication Solutions
The newly introduced lineup includes a next-generation AI gateway, an intelligent software framework, ultra-high-speed wireless wide-area distribution and backhaul platforms, and a fixed wireless access platform. Each product is engineered to build intelligent processing structures across entire telecommunications networks. Qualcomm designed the systems to handle complex workloads locally, reducing reliance on remote cloud servers for routine management tasks.
Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite Powers the AI Gateway
The next-generation AI gateway relies on Qualcomm’s Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite platform. This system-on-chip features a simultaneous quad-band 4×4 Wi-Fi 8 wireless system, a five-core central processing unit, and a high-performance Qualcomm Hexagon neural processing unit. Acting as the boundary between external internet lines and internal networks, the gateway functions simultaneously as a modem and a router.
The hardware configuration supports agentic AI, customized subscriber services, and smart-home management directly inside the gateway device. The system also achieves symmetrical upload and download speeds of 20 gigabits per second. This capability stems from a collaboration with Alphabet-owned internet service provider gFiber, according to thelec.kr.
Dragonwing SAM Software Framework Enhances Security
Qualcomm also introduced Dragonwing Security and Management, an intelligent software framework designed to strengthen network security and administrative structures. The architecture integrates device intelligence to monitor connection states, service intelligence to optimize quality of experience, security services to block threats, and cloud intelligence that combines external big data with AI analysis.
Dragonwing SAM uses an open-source software structure that applies across various gateways and telecommunications environments without being restricted to specific equipment or chips. The framework supports external software execution, allowing network operators to monitor broadband environments transparently and deliver secure AI networks.
Dragonwing 6th Generation FWA Elite Platform Connects Remote Areas
The Dragonwing point-to-multipoint and point-to-point platforms serve as wireless transmission solutions for expanding base stations and telecommunications infrastructure. The PtMP platform distributes radio signals from a central transmission tower to multiple nearby user receivers to supply high-speed internet. The PtP platform links base stations wirelessly using high-capacity licensed frequency bands for backhaul transmission.
Both platforms operate with Qualcomm’s customized millimeter-wave transmission access units and customer premises equipment receivers. A time-division multiple access scheduler divides transmission sequences by time slots to reduce latency, while multi-standard frame synchronization minimizes signal interference across differing communication standards.

The next-generation fixed wireless access solution, named the Dragonwing FWA 6th Generation Elite Platform, receives standard 5G wireless network signals directly to supply indoor high-speed wired and wireless internet. Powered by the Qualcomm X105 5G modem-RF chipset, the system supports 5G Advanced and non-terrestrial network features that communicate directly with satellites without ground stations.
The hardware includes a triband Wi-Fi 8 system utilizing three frequency bands and a fifth-generation Qualcomm 5G AI processor. Ultra-high-speed broadband networks are evolving from simple access platforms into intelligent service platforms,
said Goutham Shivanandan, Qualcomm vice president and general manager of connectivity, broadband, and networking, as reported by thelec.kr. As AI settles deeply into consumer and enterprise environments, telecommunications operators need networks that go beyond simple data transmission.
Network X 2026 Demonstrations in Vienna
Qualcomm is demonstrating the physical platforms and their features at the Network X 2026 exhibition. The global telecommunications and infrastructure event runs from October 13 through October 15, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
