Heartbreak and Calls for Safety After Tragedy Claims Father and Son
The community is reeling after a heartbreaking incident in Regents Park,Logan,on Sunday. Braiden Ashley Timmins, 33, and his son, Hendrix-Hemi Te Rongomau King, 4, were killed when a ute veered off the road and struck them while they were walking near a service station. Authorities believe the pair may have been on their way to get ice cream.
The driver,41-year-old Trevor Galbraith,has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and made no application for bail. He is next scheduled to appear in court on October 29.
The family of Hendrix-Hemi Te Rongomau King are “struggling to comprehend a world without him.” Friends and family describe Hendrix as a child “full of joy, cheeky grins, and boundless love” who “lit up every room he entered.”
Local Councillor Jacob Heremaia expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to the family, stating, “My thoughts are also with the first responders who faced such a heartbreaking scene. I know words can do little to ease the pain, but please know that our community shares in the sorrow of this tragedy.”
Following the incident, Councillor Heremaia has contacted the Chief Executive Officer of the city council requesting an urgent inquiry and action to improve pedestrian safety on Green Road.
