Pride Live! Hollywood Celebrates LGBTQ Representation in entertainment

Los Angeles will host the inaugural Pride Live! Hollywood, a festival spotlighting LGBTQ representation in entertainment. The event, running june 11-29, coincides with the 25th anniversary of Queer as Folk.
Pride live! Hollywood will feature a reunion of the Queer as Folk cast, along with a 40th-anniversary celebration of The Golden Girls and a tribute to the late Norman Lear.Events will take place at various venues throughout Hollywood.
Scott Lowell, who played Ted Schmidt in Queer as Folk, emphasized the importance of celebrating shows like Queer as Folk. He saeid it is indeed especially significant during Pride Month in Los Angeles at a festival that acknowledges the past and shows the path forward.
Lowell will be joined by Queer as Folk co-stars Hal Sparks, Robert Gant, Michelle clunie, Thea Gill, Peter Paige, and Sharon Gless, as well as creators Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman.
The Golden Girls tribute will include a panel featuring writers Rick Copp, Jim Vallely, Stan Zimmerman, James Berg, and script supervisor Isabel Omero.
The opening night tribute to Norman Lear will begin with an introduction from his wife, Lyn. Isabella Gomez from One Day at a Time, K Callan, a guest star on All in the Family, and writers/producers Gail Parent, Jay Moriarty, Bob Illes, Mike Royce, Dan Ewen, and Greg Cope White will participate in the tribute.
Other festival highlights include Los Angeles premieres of Unicorns and A Big Gay Hairy Hit! Where the Bears Are: The Documentary. There will also be a Saturday Night Fever screening at the W Hotel Hollywood with a rooftop disco dance party, and screenings of other films.
Festival attendees can also participate in an LGBTQ author roundtable, live performances at Amoeba Music, and a tour of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
