beau Salkilld is determined to make a statement at UFC newark, targeting a knockout victory over his opponent, Ashmouz. The fight marks SalkilldS second appearance in the UFC, and he’s eager to display more of his capabilities after a brief debut earlier this year. He is focused on disciplined striking and capitalizing on grappling opportunities to secure a Performance of the Night bonus.
Ashmouz enters the Octagon for his fourth UFC fight, holding two wins. His sole career loss came against Chris Duncan in 2023. Salkilld acknowledges Ashmouz’s finishing ability, noting that most of his wins have come inside the distance. This awareness shapes Salkilld’s strategy for their upcoming bout.
Salkilld is preparing for a dynamic fight. He plans to stay disciplined on his feet, avoiding Ashmouz’s powerful, unpredictable strikes. He also intends to aggressively scramble when Ashmouz attempts takedowns, mitigating any submission threats. This approach reflects Salkilld’s confidence in his grappling skills and his determination to control the fight’s pace.
“He is quite wild on the feet,” Salkilld said. “That’s always going to be dangerous; he throws a random spin and throws quite powerful,so I’ve got to stay very disciplined on the feet to make sure I don’t get caught with any of those. When it comes to the grappling, I think his takedowns are very technical… I’m just going to make sure I scramble like hell when he shoots on me.”
Beyond personal ambition, Salkilld is motivated to represent Perth MMA, especially after Jack Della Maddalena’s recent welterweight championship win at UFC 315. Inspired by Della Maddalena’s success, Salkilld aims to further elevate the profile of his city’s MMA scene. He wants to put Perth on the map as a hub for talent and achievement in the sport.
“This is one of my goals. I do want to put, not just my country, but my home city, on the map, so I’m doing this for Perth. I can’t wait to make the region much more well known.”
What’s next
Salkilld anticipates a dynamic fight at the Prudential Center, envisioning a knockout victory and a potential Performance of the Night bonus.
