Quinn Simmons Claims 2025 US National Championship in Charleston

Quinn Simmons of Lidl-Trek showcased a commanding performance to capture the gold medal at the US National Championships in Charleston. This victory marks Simmons’ second national title, adding to his 2023 win.
Simmons launched an early attack, finding himself in a six-man breakaway group that held a lead of over a minute at the race’s midpoint. The group eventually whittled down to Simmons, AJ August of Ineos Grenadiers, and Henry Neff from Kelly Benefits Cycling. Simmons then broke away on the wertz Avenue climb during the eighth of ten laps.
The 24-year-old cyclist crossed the finish line well ahead of the competition, celebrating his victory. This win underscores Simmons’ return to peak form after recovering from a concussion sustained at the 2023 Tour.
evan Boyle of Hagens Berman Jayco finished second, 2 minutes, 52 seconds behind Simmons. Gavin Hlady of EF Education-EasyPost won the sprint for third place, finishing 4 minutes, 23 seconds back.
“I think the worlds highlighted that I was getting back to my level,” Simmons said. “Then I had a really good spring this season, winning my first worldtour race, and now I have my jersey back.”

The 131-mile race featured ten laps of a circuit that included climbs up Bridge Road and Wertz Avenue. simmons, August, Samuel Boardman, Robin carpenter, Neff, and Sean Christian formed an early breakaway, establishing a significant lead.
Simmons’ decisive move came on wertz Avenue, where he dropped August and Neff. Despite efforts from Boyle and Tyler stites to chase, Simmons maintained his lead, ultimately securing a solo victory.
