Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek) secured the elite menS road race title at the USA Pro Road National Championships, launching a solo attack with approximately 35 kilometers to go. His powerful move proved decisive, as he maintained his lead to the finish line in Charleston.
Simmons, the 2023 champion, had ample time to celebrate his victory, crossing the line 2 minutes and 52 seconds ahead of Evan Boyle (Hagens Berman Jayco). Boyle had broken away from the chase group, initially with Tyler Stites (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), before pursuing Simmons alone.
The race, covering 198.6 kilometers,included challenging climbs on the junior circuit and the punishing Bridge Road climb. An early breakaway formed, later including riders such as Michael Garrison, Henry Neff, and Robin Carpenter. simmons and Andrew August bridged to the break, further reducing the peloton.
