The USC Trojans‘ 2025 recruiting class received a important boost with the addition of four-star cornerback R.J. Sermons. Sermons, ranked as the No. 28 overall prospect by ESPN for the 2026 cycle,has reclassified and will enroll at USC this summer.
Sermons, a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back from Rancho Cucamonga, California, had previously committed to USC over offers from alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Oregon. His arrival addresses needs in a Trojans secondary that lost five starters.
R.J. Sermons comes from a USC legacy; his father,Rodney Sermons,played running back for the Trojans in the 1990s,amassing 888 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Sermons joins a group of highly-rated defensive recruits in USC’s 2025 class, including Kendarius Reddick, Trestin Castro, and Jahkeem Stewart, who also reclassified.
