The BBC series began its route at Huanghuacheng, near Beijing, China, and continued through diverse landscapes. Initial stages took competitors through Huangling,Shanghai,Hainan and Sanya,known as ‘China’s Hawaii’. The journey then progressed westward,including Kunming and Shangri-La in the Himalayas. A flight carried them over the impassable Himalayas to Kathmandu, Nepal, and then down to Varanasi, India.

Navigating India, the teams passed through Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur—the Golden Triangle—to view the Taj Mahal. They then traveled to Rishikesh and Mussoori before reaching McLeod Ganj. The race’s final third took them through Rajasthan, including Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Udaipur, with a stop in Amritsar before the Sasan Gir checkpoint.
