Limerick Racecourse has cancelled its scheduled card for today, January 27, 2026, due to a waterlogged track. The decision follows an inspection this morning and comes after notable rainfall in recent weeks.
according to Shane Ryder, the Irish horse Racing Board (IHRB) clerk of the course at Limerick, 12mm of rain fell overnight, adding to 31mm since last Thursday and a further 53mm in the preceding two weeks.
The cancellation coincides with a Status Yellow wind warning in effect across Ireland until 11pm, issued in response to Storm Chandra, as reported by RTÉ News. Further showers are forecast for today, leaving officials with no alternative but to call off the fixture.
