Kazakh Tennis Star Andrei Gorubev Officially Retires
Andrei Gorubev, the 37-year-old Kazakh tennis star, has officially ended his professional career with a retirement ceremony held at the Astana National Tennis Center on September 15, as announced on the official website of the Kazakhstan Tennis Association.
Dias Doskhalayev, Vice Chairman of the Kazakhstan Tennis Association, praised Gorubev’s significant contribution to the development and promotion of tennis in Kazakhstan during the ceremony.
Gorubev expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the association, his opponents, family, and fans during his retirement ceremony.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents and family for their unwavering support and trust in me. I am proud to dedicate all my victories to my motherland, Kazakhstan. I also want to thank my fans, who have always believed in me and supported me throughout my career.”
Gorubev’s illustrious career is marked by numerous highlights, including representing Kazakhstan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and winning a gold medal in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games tennis team event. He was also a finalist in the 2021 French Open Grand Slam doubles event and secured two ATP titles, including one singles title.
Gorubev’s highest ranking in his career was achieved in 2010, when he reached No. 33 in the ATP world singles rankings, marking the peak of his personal career.
