On Monday, September 16th (national holiday), the 6th District Qualifier (Team) for the 2024 Chiba Prefectural High School Newcomer Tennis Tournament was held at Narashino Municipal High School and Toho University Toho High School. The tournament consisted of a total of five matches, three singles and two doubles, and the top five will advance to the Chiba Prefectural Tournament. Our school was seeded third.
Tournament Results
- First round: Narashino Municipal Narashino High School 〇4-1
- Semi-final: Chiba Keiai High School 3-1
- Final: Chiba Prefectural Yachiyo High School 3-2
The results were stunning. We won the district championship! In the semi-finals, we faced the second seed, Chiba Keiai High School. They are a good rival in the same district who we have not been able to beat much up until now, and they are the opponents we wanted to beat. In the finals, we faced the first seed, Yachiyo High School. We lost in the spring district tournament and missed the right to participate in the Kanto Qualifiers, so we wanted to get revenge here. We won singles 1 and 2, which are usually hard to get. The players really did a great job. After all, the five-round system is the specialty of the Shoin team.
With these results, we have decided to participate in the prefectural tournament, and the Chiba Prefectural Tournament team competition will start on Friday, October 4th. First of all, we will prepare with the goal of making it to the Chiba Prefectural Top 8, which we have not been able to reach recently. The district tournament still has the ranking match for individual doubles remaining, which will be held at Yachiyo High School on Sunday, September 22nd. We will continue to do our best.
