Racket Rebels: Harbin Team Serves Up a Storm, Sweeping 10 Medals at Provincial Tennis Championship
Harbin Team Dominates Heilongjiang Tennis Championship
The “Run, Youngsters” 2024 Heilongjiang Tennis Championship recently concluded in Harbin, with the home team Harbin emerging as the top performer. The team secured an impressive 4 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals, ranking first in the gold medal list.
The competition featured men’s and women’s A and B groups, competing in singles and doubles events. Although the men’s B group doubles was cancelled due to insufficient participating teams, the remaining 7 events saw 81 athletes from 5 prefecture-level cities, including Harbin, Mudanjiang, Jiamusi, Daqing, and Hegang, competing over 5 days. The Harbin Summer Sports Training Center sent 19 male athletes and 13 female athletes to participate.

Wang Zhe, director of the ball department of Harbin Summer Sports Training Center, attributed the team’s success to the outstanding performance of the male and female A-group players. Except for the women’s A-group singles, where two Harbin players met in the semifinals, the finals of the other three events were all played between the two Harbin players.

“The players showed a spirit of perseverance and hard work in the competition, and fully demonstrated their training level in the highest level tennis competition in the province,” Wang Zhe said. This competition served as a valuable training opportunity for Harbin’s young tennis players, boosting their confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Provincial Games.
