On the 3rd, the AON Open Challenger (Italy/Genova, clay, ATP Challenger) of men’s tennis, world ranking 222nd Kei Nishikori will face qualifying winner and 386th-ranked M. Dellavedova (Australia) in the first round of the singles. The first match on the court is scheduled to start at 17:00 Japan time on the 3rd (10:00 local time on the 3rd).

This is the first time the two have met.
Nishikori, 34, formerly ranked No. 4 in the world, won three matches at the National Bank Open (Montreal, Canada, hard, ATP 1000) held last month, reaching the quarterfinals of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in about five years and three months.
Nishikori participated in the Como Challenger (Como, Italy, clay, ATP Challenger) last week and showed sharp play in the first and second rounds, making it to the quarterfinals. However, he withdrew from the quarterfinals due to a shoulder injury.
This time, he will be competing in Challenger tournaments for the second week in a row.
The winner of this match will face either seventh seed JP Valillas (Peru) or wildcard player G. Cadenasso (Italy), ranked 577th in the world.
