Racket Up, Mexico: Ultimate Tennis Showdown Serves Up Thrills in Guadalajara 2024
Ultimate Tennis Tournament to Debut in Mexico in 2025
Guadalajara to Host Innovative Tennis League with $1.4 Million Prize Fund
By Carlos Rodríguez
Guadalajara, Mexico – The Ultimate Tennis Tournament (UTS), a revolutionary tennis league created by renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou, is set to make its debut in Mexico in 2025. The tournament will take place at the Pan American Tennis Center in Guadalajara from February 14 to 16, 2025, with a prize fund of $1.4 million, of which $420,000 will go to the winning player.
Mouratoglou, who coached tennis superstar Serena Williams for many years, created the UTS in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted professional tennis tournaments worldwide. The league features an innovative format with eight players competing over four days, with a unique set of rules that include four quarters of eight minutes each, the use of microphones to allow players to communicate with the audience, and a more relaxed atmosphere that encourages spectator participation.
“We are excited to bring the UTS to Mexico for the first time,” said Mouratoglou. “Guadalajara will be the first Latin American city to host the tournament, and we are confident that the fans will love the innovative format and the opportunity to see some of the world’s top players in action.”
The UTS has already gained popularity in Europe and the United States, with tournaments held in France, the UK, and the US. The league has attracted top players such as Nick Kyrgios, Casper Ruud, and Denis Shapovalov, who will compete in the Guadalajara tournament.
The UTS is not just about the tennis; it’s also about creating a more engaging and entertaining experience for the fans. “Tennis fans are getting older, and that’s a problem for the sport,” said Mouratoglou. “We need to attract a younger audience, and the UTS is designed to do just that. We want to make tennis more accessible and fun for everyone.”
