Racketing Up Friendship: Guangzhou Hosts Thrilling Badminton Invitational Tournament with Hong Kong and Macao
Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Badminton Friendship Invitational Tournament Held in Guangzhou
The Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Badminton Friendship Invitational Tournament was held at the Haizhu District Gymnasium in Guangzhou, promoting integration and interaction in the sports field of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Nearly 100 athletes from 8 teams from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao participated in the competition, which was guided by the Guangzhou Overseas Friendship Association and the Guangzhou Haizhu Overseas Friendship Association, and hosted by Hong Kong Shiyun Group Co., Ltd.
The tournament featured men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, with participants aged over 35 years old, aiming to encourage young and middle-aged people to maintain their love for sports.
Badminton legends from Malaysia, Fu Guoqiang and Sun Yihui, and contestants from the Haizhu District Sports Federation staged a wonderful badminton exhibition match, setting the tone for the competition.
After fierce competition in the group round-robin and cross-elimination matches, the Hong Kong Shiyun Machinery Team, the Hong Kong PRO HAIR Badminton Team, the Haizhu Sports Special Team, and the Hong Kong Shiyun Group Team won the top four places, while the Haizhu Overseas Chinese Federation Team, the Macau Thirteen Hongs Cultural Trade Promotion Association Badminton Team, the Macau Patriotic Badminton Team, and the Sea Pearl Team won the top four places in the silver plate.
Zhang Guowen, captain of the Hong Kong Shiyun Machinery Team, expressed his joy in using badminton as a bridge to bring everyone together, promote training through competitions, and make friends through the game.
Wang Fujun, president of the Guangzhou Haizhu Overseas Friendship Association, hopes that through the holding of sports events, it will attract more friends from Hong Kong and Macao to invest and start businesses in Haizhu, injecting new vitality into Haizhu’s high-quality development.
Jian Shuqiu, founder of Hong Kong Shiyun Group, expressed his deep patriotic sentiment and continued support for the development of his hometown, hoping to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the core cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
