According to official announcements, the run opens with a four-night stand at Perth’s RAC Arena on May 3, 2027. Following Perth, the band will play six-show residencies in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena and in Sydney at Afterpay Arena, wrapping up the Australian leg on June 1, 2027. Following the Australian dates, the group will head to Japan for five shows in Saitama, with Frontier Touring confirming no additional concerts will be added for the year.

Ticket Registration and Environmental Donations

To manage anticipated high demand, Frontier Touring implemented a registration system for general and accessible tickets rather than a conventional first-come, first-served sale. Registration opened online and closed at 5 p.m. AEST on Thursday, Sept. 10, with the promoter stating every entry submitted during the window will be treated equally. Ticket buyers will also contribute directly to environmental causes, as each ticket includes a $2 donation directed to Greenpeace Australia Pacific and the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Speculation regarding a down-under return had circulated for months, fueled in part by Ed O’Brien telling Rolling Stone earlier in the year that the band hoped to make the trip back.

Context on the Seven-Year Hiatus and Side Projects

The upcoming Australian dates follow a series of European residency shows scheduled for late 2025 across London, Berlin, Madrid, Bologna, and Copenhagen. Those late 2025 European dates marked the band’s first live performances since 2018, following a seven-year touring pause that stands as the longest break in the group’s career. During the multi-year hiatus, members pursued various solo and collaborative endeavors. Thom Yorke formed Smile alongside Jonny Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner, releasing three studio albums, while also composing film scores for Suspiria and Confidenza, releasing a solo album titled Anima, and adapting the band’s 2003 album Hail to the Thief for a theatrical production of Hamlet. Jonny Greenwood concentrated on film composition for projects including Spencer, The Power of the Dog, Licorice Pizza, and director Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another. Meanwhile, Philip Selway and Ed O’Brien both released solo records during the extended break. Reflecting on the reunion rehearsals, Philip Selway stated in a message to fans, Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us.
