Radiohead Thom Yorke Israel Concert Refusal
Claim: Thom Yorke, frontman of Radiohead, has stated he would not perform in Israel now, a change from the band’s previous decision to play there in 2016-2018.
Evidence: According to The Guardian adn The Sunday Times,yorke said,”Absolutely not. I wouldn’t want to be 5,000 miles anywhere near the Netanyahu regime.”
Context: This statement was made before the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Radiohead faced criticism and boycott calls for performing in Tel Aviv in 2016-2018, despite these calls. The band’s upcoming tour is also facing boycott requests due to a previous performance by band member Jonny Greenwood in Tel Aviv in 2024.
