Emma Raducanu,the 22-year-old British ⁤tennis star,said she remains cautious after experiencing a ​stalking incident in Dubai earlier this year during a match against Karolina ⁣Muchova. Raducanu said she was shaken after spotting a man “fixated” on her, which impacted her‌ performance.

Raducanu told the BBC ⁣that the situation was compounded by ⁢not‌ having a full-time coach at the time. Now working⁢ with Mark Petchey and​ Nick Cavaday, she⁣ said she feels more⁢ settled, though the unease from the stalking ‌incident lingers.

The 2021 U.S. Open champion acknowledged the difficulty of dealing with negative attention and social media commentary, especially amid injuries and fluctuating performance.

“I’m obviously wary when I go out. I try not to be careless about it because you only realise how much of a problem it ‌is when you’re in ⁢that situation and I don’t necessarily wont to be in that situation again,” Raducanu said.
