following recent observations by the Supreme Court regarding Rahul Gandhi‘s statements on national security, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress leader, accusing him of being “anti-India” and alleging a concerning alignment with Chinese interests. Senior BJP leaders claimed Gandhi repeatedly makes “immature, irresponsible” remarks, despite past reprimands from various courts.
Supreme Court Scrutiny Fuels BJP Criticism
The BJP seized upon the Supreme Court’s comments as evidence of Gandhi’s alleged detrimental actions towards India. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stated that the court’s observations suggest Gandhi is actively working to “weaken India and strengthen china.” Bhatia emphasized the seriousness of the situation, asserting that Gandhi’s credibility has fallen to “zero.”
BJP IT department head Amit Malviya labeled Gandhi the “China Guru” and criticized him for “reckless” statements concerning India’s national security and territorial integrity. Malviya went further, declaring Gandhi a “certified anti-national” on X (formerly Twitter). The criticism extended to Gandhi’s economic commentary, with Malviya labeling his “dead economy” remark a “diplomatic disaster.” He argued Gandhi’s comments implicitly criticized long-standing ally Russia while seemingly endorsing Pakistan’s economic stability.
Allegations of a Secret MoU with China
During a press conference, Bhatia presented a purported photograph of Rahul Gandhi signing a document alongside Sonia Gandhi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The BJP spokesperson claimed this was a party-to-party memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of China.
Bhatia questioned Gandhi’s past statements regarding clashes with Chinese forces in Doklam and Galwan, suggesting they undermined indian morale and supported China’s narrative. He demanded clarity regarding the contents of the alleged MoU, stating, “It seems Rahul Gandhi has love for China and Pakistan in his veins, but no love for India.”
Concerns over Gandhi’s Leadership and Respect for Armed Forces
BJP leaders questioned Gandhi’s suitability as leader of the Opposition (LoP), given the allegations.Bhatia asked whether Gandhi, as an elected official sworn to protect India’s sovereignty, was instead “destroying the sovereignty of our country” and “helping nations that are inimical to our country.”
shehzad Poonawalla, another BJP spokesperson, accused Gandhi and the Congress party of “hating” the Indian armed forces, referencing Gandhi’s remarks on the surgical strike and Operation Sindoor. He posted on X, “Insulting the Army is the hallmark of the Congress. Rahul and Congress hate Indian Armed Forces. Today SC has slammed him.”
Focus on Supreme Court Questioning
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari highlighted the Supreme Court’s direct questioning of Gandhi – “How did you know that China had occupied land?” – arguing this not only exposed Gandhi but also redirected attention to the alleged ”secret MoU” between the Gandhi-Vadra family and China. Bhandari asserted that Gandhi is “working under the remote control of foreign forces.”
The BJP’s coordinated response underscores a concerted effort to portray Rahul Gandhi as a threat to India’s national interests and to question his loyalty to the country, particularly in light of the Supreme Court’s recent scrutiny.
