Southern Oregon University (SOU) beach volleyball has secured its first Cascade Conference Championship (CCC) title. The achievement marks a significant milestone for the program, establishing the Raiders as the top team in the conference.
According to reporting from KDRV, the Raiders are set to host the CCC tournament during the week of April 7, 2026. As part of the tournament schedule, SOU is slated to face Bushnell on Thursday, April 10, 2026.
Program Context and Competition
While the beach volleyball program celebrates its first conference title, other SOU athletic programs have experienced varying degrees of success within the CCC during the 2025-2026 academic cycle.
The SOU men’s basketball team, for example, entered the CCC tournament quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed. The basketball team had finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-11 and a conference record of 14-6, following a 73-67 victory over the College of Idaho.
However, the basketball team’s postseason run ended on February 23, 2026, in a quarterfinal matchup against Bushnell. SOU lost that contest 71-70 at Lithia Motors Pavilion after Bushnell’s Cory Johnson converted three free throws with one-tenth of a second remaining on the clock.
In that basketball game, SOU guard Elijah Jackson recorded 17 points and four assists. Despite the loss, the basketball team’s seeding highlighted the Raiders’ overall competitive standing within the conference leading into the spring sports season.
Tournament Outlook
The beach volleyball team now carries the momentum of their first-ever CCC title as they transition into hosting the conference tournament. The home-court advantage of hosting the event provides a strategic benefit for the Raiders as they prepare for their upcoming match.
The matchup against Bushnell on April 10, 2026, will be a key fixture of the tournament. This pairing mirrors a recurring conference rivalry seen across different SOU sports, including the recent postseason clash in men’s basketball.
