Heavy Rain Alert: Meteorological Department Warns of Flash Floods and Strong Waves
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rain in several provinces across Thailand.

The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rains have been recorded in some parts of Thailand, with very heavy rains falling in some areas of the eastern and southwestern regions. People in the area are advised to be alert to the dangers of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and flash floods.
The monsoon trough has moved downwards in the northern, south-central and northeastern regions, entering the low pressure area along the coast of central Vietnam. Additionally, the southwest monsoon is quite strong, covering the Andaman Sea, the southern region, the lower central region, the eastern region and the Gulf of Thailand.
Provinces Affected by Heavy to Very Heavy Rain
The following provinces are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain:
- North: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces.
- Northeast: Loei, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
- Central Region: Nakhon Sawan Province, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Suphanburi, including Bangkok and surrounding areas.
- Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
- South: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun Provinces.
Wind waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to be quite strong, with waves of 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves will be more than 3 meters high. In the lower Gulf of Thailand, there will be waves of about 2 meters high, with waves of more than 2 meters high in areas with thunderstorms.
Boaters in the area are advised to use caution and avoid sailing in areas prone to thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from leaving the coast until September 20, 2024.
