Jaipur, Rajasthan - A 25-year-old religious preacher, Sadhvi Prem Baisa, died Wednesday evening after collapsing while receiving treatment for a fever at her ashram, triggering protests from devotees demanding a thorough investigation.
According to police, Sadhvi Prem Baisa was transported to a private hospital by her father and a young man at approximately 6:00 PM local time. She was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“After examination, the doctor declared her dead,” said ACP (west) Chhavi Sharma.
Authorities have moved the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Devotees are alleging a “suspicious” death and are calling for a full inquiry.
