Rallying to the Top: How Du Xi Served Up a New Passion for Padel in Changsha
Discover the Joy of Padel: A Sport for All
Changsha girl Du Xi’s life was transformed when she discovered padel, a sport that has become increasingly popular among young people in China. From being a sports novice to becoming a leader in the 2010 Padel Club, Du Xi’s journey is an inspiration to many.
Padel, also known as plate tennis or cage tennis, is a tennis sport played with a “board” in a “cage”. This sport originated in Mexico in 1969 and has since developed in Spain and Latin America, with over 25 million fans in nearly 100 countries and regions.
The Transformation of a Sports Novice
Du Xi’s journey with padel began three years ago when she was introduced to the sport by her friend Fan Chenyang, one of the pioneers in promoting padel in China. She was instantly fascinated by the vitality and fun of the sport.
“I found it very interesting when I played for the first time. The ball and the racket made a bang-bang sound when they collided, just like a heartbeat, which sounded very relaxing. The path of the ball after hitting the glass was unpredictable, so there were endless possibilities when playing. It was very playable and addictive.”
Delivering Happiness and Confidence
Through her close contact with padel, Du Xi gained not only physical coordination and strength but also a steady stream of new friends and continuous self-recognition on the spiritual level.
“I feel more confident and calm. Whether I’m playing or working, I have the courage to do more. I’m stronger than I thought.” For Du Xi, padel tennis goes beyond the scope of an ordinary sport. It has triggered an awakening deep in her heart and shaped a more positive, tenacious, and courageous mentality.
Sharing the Joy of Padel
Du Xi’s passion for padel led her to devote herself to promoting the sport. In 2021, when the 2010 Padel Club was founded, Du Xi was one of the founding members. She grew up with the team, doing everything from venue management to membership services, from event organization to brand cooperation and promotion.
“On the one hand, I want to share the joy and confidence of participating in Padel with every woman like me. On the other hand, the fun, fitness effects, and social attributes of padel tennis give this sport unlimited development potential. I hope it can become popular in Changsha and Hunan.”
The 2010 Padel Club has been actively promoting padel, attracting nearly 30,000 participants. Du Xi invites everyone who is eager to change to try padel, “Maybe you are a novice in sports, or you are weak, but as long as you are willing to try, padel will make you grow. It is not only a physical exercise but also a spiritual nourishment.”
What is Padel?
Padel is a tennis sport played with a “board” in a “cage”. The rules of Padel are similar to those of tennis, with the biggest difference being that Padel uses an underhand serve. Padel does not require much strength from the participants but rather emphasizes strategy and agility, making it suitable for both men and women, young and old.
