Ramadan Sovi’s Career on the Brink: 4-Year Suspension Looms Amid Doping Crisis

September 18, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor World

Ramadan Sowi’s Lawyer Responds to CAS Appeal

Ramadan Sowi’s ‍lawyer, Hani Zahran, has confirmed that he has received a letter from the International Court of Sports (CAS) ‍regarding the decision of the Egyptian body’s hearing committee on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s ⁢appeal.

Zahran⁣ stated that he expected a one-party ⁣appeal against the hearing committee’s decision and has prepared⁤ all necessary legal matters to address it. This appeal is a continuation of the litigation process against Egyptian or international organizations.

The Egyptian Anti-Doping Agency⁢ initially issued a 4-year suspension, but the player was ⁤given the right to appeal the decision by resorting⁢ to the hearing committee.‌ The suspension has since been lifted.

The Fate of Ramadan Sowi’s Participation

Sowi has the right ⁣to⁣ participate in matches until‌ the final decision of the Court of International Affairs (CAS). The case will take some time to decide, but Zahran is ready with the necessary documents.

Zahran will defend⁣ the ruling issued in favor of⁢ Ramadan Sowi, as the international body is appealing against the “acquittal.” ⁣He will rely on the reasons issued by the hearing committee on behalf of the player.

Although there is an official ‍appeal‌ against Ramadan Sowi and the⁤ Egyptian organization, in reality, the player who appealed against ⁣him ⁣has ⁤no⁣ cooperation with the ‍Egyptian organization in judicial matters.

Zahran noted that similar cases are ⁣currently being studied, and he is waiting for the international body to submit a memorandum ‌explaining the reasons for the appeal against Ramadan Sowi’s acquittal.

The Sports Court must first⁢ accept the appeal and declare the judgment issued‍ in favor of Ramadan Sowi null and‍ void before starting the litigation process to‌ decide the matter.
