Ramaphosa Unleashes Fury: A Shocking Crackdown on the Security Council
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa Calls for UN Security Council Reform
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the 79th United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing the need for reform in the UN Security Council.
President Ramaphosa stated that the current structure of the Security Council is no longer suitable to address contemporary global challenges. He emphasized that the world faces complex and evolving threats to international peace and security, which require a more inclusive and representative approach.
“We live in a world where threats and risks to international peace and security are multifaceted, complex and constantly evolving. Placing the fate of global security in the hands of a privileged few, while the vast majority bear the brunt of these threats, is unfair, unequal and unsustainable,” said President Ramaphosa.
He stressed that the Security Council’s structure does not adequately represent all countries and fails to account for the diversity of global perspectives. President Ramaphosa advocated for a more just and lasting peace based on international law, emphasizing the need for reform to achieve this goal.
