Company’s Financial Struggles
Construtora Ramos Catarino has been placed under a declaration of insolvency in 2024,marking the end of a prolonged attempt to restructure its finances that began in 2016. The Judicial Court of the District of Coimbra issued the insolvency judgment on January 10, 2024, according to Jornal Económico.
Maria do Céu da Silva Carrinho has been appointed as the insolvency administrator.
History of Restructuring Attempts
The construction company’s difficulties initially led to the Vallis Fund acquiring control in 2016. In 2018, the Vallis Fund resold its 75% stake to brothers Vítor and Jorge catarino, as reported by Jornal económico.
Prior to the recent insolvency, Ramos catarino had undergone two previous revitalization processes (PER), one approved in 2014 and another in 2016.
