Ramos Reboot: Did Zamalek Steal the Show with a Tactical Masterstroke to Down Al-Ahli in the Super Cup
Zamalek Eyes Spanish International Sergio Ramos
Talks have resumed between Zamalek management and Spanish international Sergio Ramos, the Sevilla defender who is out of contract, to join the team in the current summer transfer window.
Ramos is considered one of the most prominent centre-back players in the history of the tournament, thanks to his achievements with Real Madrid and his crowning glory with the Spanish national team.
The idea to include the Spanish international comes at a time when the White Knights are struggling strategically, particularly at the center of defence, as well as financially.
The Authenticity of the Talks Between Zamalek and Ramos
Discussions about the existence of talks between Zamalek and Ramos date back to a television report by the On Time sports channel, specifically through the (Goal) program last August.
The report confirmed that Ramos is open to wearing the White Knight shirt and playing in the Egyptian Premier League, but has reached an agreement on financial aspects.
Back to the Point Before Super
Discussions between Zamalek and Ramos were again discussed hours before the African Super Cup kick-off against Al-Ahly at the Kingdom Arena Stadium in Saudi Arabia.
This time, the confirmations came via the players’ agent, Omar Jaluk, who indicated his approval from White Castle to complete the deal with Ramos.
Zaluk explained that things are going well with the player’s openness to a new experience, but the financial aspects have to be agreed.
A Source in Zamalek Confirmed Ramos’ Talk
A Zamalek board source confirmed that the return to talks regarding Ramos’ talks is not linked to a new move by the club or the player.
He added: ”The matter started with a nomination, then communication, and ended with a higher financial request than the budget available to us … and the matter stopped there.”
He continued: “The positive side of the matter is Zamalek’s ability to attract big stars, despite the financial challenges, and this is a message to the current team players ahead of an important match.”
