Chris Kreider ​Traded ⁢to Ducks After ⁢waiving No-Trade Clause

Chris Kreider,⁣ the‌ New York‌ Rangers’ longest-tenured player, has been traded to the Anaheim Ducks after agreeing to waive his no-trade clause. The deal, finalized Thursday morning, sends the veteran left wing to ⁢Anaheim, a team previously on his 15-team no-trade list.

In return,⁢ the Rangers receive forward Carey Terrance and a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. The Ducks will also assume Kreider’s full $6.5 million cap hit for the next two seasons. This move impacts the Rangers’ roster​ and thier future draft ‍prospects, marking a notable shift in team dynamics as they navigate NHL trades.

Kreider, 34, is in the sixth year of a seven-year, $45.5 million contract and was slated to ⁢become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2027. This season, he recorded 30 points ‍(22‌ goals, eight assists) in 68 games.

Earlier in the season, both Kreider and then-captain Jacob Trouba were made available for trade. The Ducks acquired Trouba on Dec. 6 for Urho⁣ Vaakanainen and ⁢a fourth-round pick in ​the 2025 NHL Draft.

Kreider ranks third in franchise ⁢history with ‌326 goals and ⁣has ‌accumulated 582 points in 883 career ⁢games as being drafted by the Rangers in 2009.

Terrance, 20, a second-round pick by anaheim in 2023, tallied 39 points in ‍45 games this season‌ with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey ‍league. he has 162 points in 230 games over four seasons with Erie.
