New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin exited Monday night’s game against the Utah Mammoth midway through the first period due to an apparent injury to his left leg. The incident occurred as Shesterkin attempted to avoid contact with Mammoth forward JJ Peterka near the crease; however, Peterka did not appear to make direct contact with the goalie. Sportsnet reported Shesterkin immediately went down in pain.
Trainers and defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov assisted Shesterkin off the ice, and he was unable to put any weight on his left foot. Veteran Jonathan Quick replaced shesterkin in net.
