Sean Diddy Combs Arrested by Federal Authorities in New York
American hip-hop icon Sean Diddy Combs, famous for the song ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ and his stage name ‘Puff Daddy’, was suddenly arrested by federal authorities in New York on the 16th (local time).
According to foreign news agencies, Combs had been staying in New York since last week and was arrested at a hotel in Manhattan that evening. He is currently being held by Homeland Security Investigations.
The exact charges are unknown, but Damien Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated that an indictment against Combs ”will be unsealed shortly.”
CNN previously reported in May that Combs was the subject of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, which focuses on allegations of prostitution, money laundering, and illegal drug trafficking.

Combs’ attorney argued that Combs had been cooperating with the investigation and had voluntarily traveled to New York last week in anticipation of the authorities’ indictment. He also argued that the prosecution’s indictment was “unjustified,” and that Combs was innocent.
Combs has already been sued several times for sexual assault and other charges. In November of last year, his former girlfriend, singer Cassie (real name Cassandra Ventura), filed a civil lawsuit against Combs, claiming that she had been sexually assaulted.
The lawsuit was settled, but it sparked controversy in May when CNN released a video showing Combs brutally beating Ventura, including kicking her, in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel in March 2016.
