Houston Rapper ‘That Mexican OT’ Uninjured After Bull Strike at Rodeo

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Houston-area rapper Virgil René Gazca, known professionally as “That Mexican OT,” went viral over the weekend after being struck by a bull at the Fort Bend County Rodeo in Rosenberg, Texas. Despite being flipped into the air and hit multiple times, the rapper walked away from the incident without serious injury.

Video of the incident, posted on the Instagram account @SnappedbySOS, quickly spread across social media, showing the rapper being hit by the bull, tossed into the air, and then struck again before managing to exit the arena.

Speaking with KHOU 11, Mexican OT explained that he grew up around cowboys and has family ties to the rodeo community, which led to his invitation to participate in the event. He described a surge of adrenaline when the bull was released into the arena.

“Once I walked into the arena, the bull was released — and the adrenaline took over,” he said.

While wearing some protective padding, Mexican OT noted that it offered little resistance to the force of the bull. “The bull just snapped them off me,” he said, adding that the encounter also resulted in a torn pair of pants.

Despite the rough encounter, Mexican OT was able to perform at the rodeo later that evening. He stated he has no intention of pursuing a career as a cowboy or professional bull rider, but expressed a newfound respect for those who do.

“I think they are great at what they do,” he said. “They are super tough men. I admire that about them.”

This wasn’t Mexican OT’s first experience with a bull at a rodeo. He reportedly tussled with a bull last May while performing rodeo clown stunts, suggesting a willingness to engage with the rodeo atmosphere despite the inherent risks.

Mexican OT, whose stage name reflects his Texas roots – “OT” standing for “Outta Texas” – gained prominence through his music. A 2024 interview with KHOU 11 provided further insight into his background and rise in the music scene.

The incident highlights the inherent dangers faced by rodeo professionals and participants, even those venturing into the arena for entertainment purposes. Mexican OT’s relatively unscathed condition underscores both luck and, as he acknowledged, the skill and resilience of those who regularly confront these powerful animals.
