Barnes, who finished with 25 points, sunk a challenging floater with just 55 seconds remaining, ample to secure the Raptors’ lead at 120-117. The Hawks had one final chance to tie the game, but a well-manned Raptors defense forced a 3-pointer from Onyeka Okongwu, which barely grazed the rim at the buzzer.
Bruce Brown (18 points) and Jacob Poeltl, alongside Chris Boucher (both with 17 points), provided formidable support for Barnes, as the Raptors played some of their best basketball this season.
Atlanta’s Bogdan Bogdanovic snapped his recent shooting drought, tallying 23 points, including three treys. But it was Dyson Daniels’ all-around performance—22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four steals— that almost steered the Hawks to victory.
The loss was the Hawks’ third consecutive, a streak they’ll look to end when they host the Raptors again on Saturday.
RJ Barrett and Grady Dick contributed 15 points apiece for Toronto, who’ve won four of their last five games. The Raptors looked sharp throughout, maintaining a double-digit lead for much of the first half.
The Hawks, fresh from an extended road trip, have now dropped both their home games to the Pistons and Raptors, trailing significantly in both. Forward Jalen Johnson’s departure after injuring his left shoulder didn’t help their cause. Johnson, who had been nursing a right shoulder inflammation, had been averaging 19.3 points and 10.2 rebounds prior to the injury.
