Raven: Health, Chair Shot, Crucifixion Controversy
During a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Raven discussed his health, teh origin of his ring name, the infamous chair shot, and a controversial storyline.
On his sleep disorder:
“They don’t have a name for it, but I know another person that has the same thing. The gist is that I wake up so many times in the night that when I wake up in the morning, I’m still exhausted. So I have to wear a special CPAP that makes me breathe. I’m sure, from years of drug abuse and chair shots to the head and abusing my body, this is the price I’m paying. I can fall asleep, no problem. But then I start waking up. After about two hours, I’ll wake up every 20 minutes for the next six to eight hours. So when I wake up for good, I’m exhausted, waking up 15-20 times a night.”
On his overall health:
“It’s good. I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s, but I don’t believe I have it. That’s why I have the tremor, and that’s what they think it is. There’s no 100% proof test, and a lot of false positives and negatives, so I didn’t get tested. The doctor saeid he would treat me the same way nonetheless – which is doing nothing, as nothing is bad enough yet, although my tremor is really bad right now.”
on medication:
“No, there’s no reason to take any. I’m just going to declare that I don’t have early onset Parkinson’s and convince myself that I don’t, as I’ve had it for 8 to 10 years, and all I’ve experienced so far is a tremor.”
On the cause of the tremor:
“They don’t know. I haven’t researched the diagnosis enough, usually I read the doctor’s notes. But I’d rather just play along. I say I have it, but I’m convinced it’s just a tremor, and I figure mind over matter. Hopefully it’ll stay just a tremor, as it has all these years.”
On whether the tremor is related to his wrestling style:
“Yeah, I think it’s chair shots to the head. Like Ali swore he didn’t have Parkinson’s, and it was just all the shots…”
