Zay Flowers Ready for ‌Ravens Season After Knee Injury

Updated June 3, 2025
⁢

Owings Mills, Md. — Baltimore ⁢Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers says he is fully recovered⁢ from the right knee injury that kept him out of the team’s two playoff games⁢ last season. The Pro Bowler‌ made the announcement ⁣Tuesday at the start of the Ravens’ second week ⁤of organized ‌team activities.

“My knee is⁣ great,” Flowers said. “I feel 100%. I feel like I’m ready for the season. No⁢ limits.”

Flowers, a key target for Lamar Jackson, led the Ravens last season with 74 receptions ⁢and 1,059‍ receiving yards, earning him a Pro⁣ Bowl selection. His injury occurred during the regular-season⁢ finale against the Cleveland Browns on Jan.4, marking the first ⁣time he had missed consecutive games.

Missing the Ravens’ 27-25 divisional-round‍ loss to the ‍Buffalo Bills was “super tough,” Flowers said.”When⁢ you play 17 games‌ just to get to the first playoff game and you can’t play in it, it’s always hard. Missing a playoff game is diffrent. At ‌least we get to play [the Bills] in our first game this year.”

Rehabilitation, rather than surgery, allowed Flowers to recover from the injury. Now, the 2023 first-round pick is focused on becoming the ⁣first Ravens player as Derrick Mason (2007-2009) to achieve consecutive ⁣1,000-yard receiving seasons. The Ravens’ role for Flowers is ⁢crucial to their offensive success, and his receiver skills are highly valued.

Ravens offensive coordinator ⁤Todd Monken emphasized flowers’ versatility. “We just have to⁢ get him the ball more,” Monken said. “He’s an astonishing ‍football player. He’s not only an outside receiver that has elite route-running skills. But he’s unbelievable with the ‌ball in⁤ his hands. So you have ‌a⁤ guy that fits two positions and plays two spots.” The team’s offense will‍ likely feature Flowers prominently.

Flowers has also been working⁢ with Jackson in Florida during the offseason. “It just‌ gets our timing down,” Flowers said. “Like if we’re running routes,he’ll say: ‘Run ‍it this way’ or ‘I like how you ran it this way.’ It’s really about talking ⁢a lot and detailing ⁤the small things that he wants to get down.”

Despite ⁢the NFL’s ‍approval for players to participate in flag football at the⁤ 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Flowers said he is not interested. “I play real football,” he said. “I ain’t really worried about going ⁢to the Olympics. I’m trying to win a ⁤Super Bowl.”

what’s next

Flowers⁤ will continue to ⁣participate in organized team ⁢activities‍ and work with ⁣Jackson to refine their ⁢connection⁢ as ⁢the Ravens ⁤prepare for the upcoming season.
