Dikha Appointed Tourism Ambassador, Receives Educational Support
The immense global popularity Dikha has achieved has not gone unnoticed by the Indonesian government. Recognizing his talent and the positive attention he has brought to his region, officials have embraced him as a cultural ambassador.
Fadli Zon, Indonesia’s minister of culture, lauded Dikha’s unique skill, stating at a recent event honoring the young dancer, “Dancing at the tip of the boat is not easy. Maintaining balance as a dancer who motivates the Pacu Jalur rowing team is truly not simple. Perhaps that’s why children are chosen rather of adults - as it’s easier for them to keep balance.”
In recognition of his inspiring role in encouraging local youth to embrace and preserve their traditions, the governor of Riau has officially named Dikha a tourism ambassador for the province. Moreover, Dikha has been awarded a scholarship of 20 million rupiah (approximately Rs 1.06 lakh) to support his education. He even had the opportunity to perform his signature dance alongside Governor Abdul Wahid and other officials, an experience he described with joy: “Wow, I’m so happy. I never imagined I’d meet the governor.”
Speaking to BBC indonesia, Dikha revealed that his now-famous moves were a spontaneous creation. “I came up with the dance myself,” he shared, adding, “It was just spontaneous.”
All eyes will be on Dikha next month as he is set to participate in the upcoming boat race, with the local government confirming his involvement.
