R&B Singer Elmiene Reveals He Has Never Been in Love

British R&B vocalist Elmiene has established a reputation for crafting emotionally resonant love songs, though he recently revealed that these works are not based on his own romantic history.

In an interview with host Tallie Spencer for Remixd Magazine published April 1, 2026, the artist shared that he has never been in love or in a romantic relationship.

The conversation focused on the themes driving his new album, Sounds for Someone. The project includes heartfelt tracks such as Reclusive, Someday, Crystal Tears, Mad At Fire, Useless (Without You), and Sweetness.

While listeners often interpret these songs as deeply autobiographical, Elmiene clarified that his writing regarding romance is derived from observation rather than lived experience.

Before this, I’ve been writing all about love and romance, which are things that I’ve not necessarily experienced it… Not done, never been in a relationship before.

Tallie Spencer expressed disbelief at the revelation, noting that the singer convincingly captures emotional vulnerability and heartbreak in his music. Spencer remarked that when listening to the tracks, it sounds as though the artist understands the feeling of heartbreak and has experienced it personally.

Elmiene attributed his songwriting ability to empathy and careful listening, stating, I’m just a good listener.

He explained that his lyrical perspective is largely informed by his role as a support system for friends during emotional moments. He described himself as someone who is always there for people who are going through difficult times.

Elmiene noted that he takes those experiences—adding that some say I steal—and incorporates them into his music.

During the interview, Spencer suggested that the artist effectively serves as a therapist for those in his circle. Elmiene agreed with the comparison, stating, Oh, I’m great, and adding that while he does not have a therapist of his own, he is good at doing it.

When asked if writing numerous love songs might prepare him for a future relationship, Elmiene responded, I hope so.

He further commented that if listeners find his portrayals of romance to be accurate, it indicates he has done a good job and suggests that maybe I should look into it.
