RCA announces 2024 Virgil Abloh Scholarship recipients – NOWRE
The scholarship is designed to help “highly talented black British students with limited financial resources”.
The Royal College of Art (RCA) and the Virgil Abloh Foundation announced the launch of this year’s “RCA Virgil Abloh Scholarship” program, and said that the scholarship has been awarded to Tyreis Holder, a master’s student in textiles, starting from next academic year. The full scholarship, including living expenses support, is intended to reward “highly talented but financially limited black British students” and covers relevant courses at the design school.
“Virgil Abloh is a creative pioneer who has empowered and inspired a generation of black youth to embrace the limitless potential of their creativity and explore the possibilities it brings,” said Holder. “It is a tremendous honor to receive this scholarship and I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to further my artistic practice, honor my Caribbean heritage and textile roots by pushing creative boundaries, and give back to the community through recognition from the Virgil Abloh Foundation.”
