Reaching for the Stars: How a Champion’s Visit Ignites Courage in Young Hearts
Champions Inspire Students to Pursue Their Dreams
Olympic champions Zhang Yufei, Cao Yuan, Zou Jingyuan, and Li Wenwen recently shared their stories and experiences with students at Peking University’s Centennial Lecture Hall.
The event, titled ”Back to School Season: This is the Champion,” provided a unique opportunity for students to interact with the champions and learn from their journeys.
Sharing Stories and Experiences
During the theme sharing session, the champions shared their growth experiences and training stories with great emotion, drawing bursts of applause from the audience.
Zhang Yufei, who participated in the Olympics for the third time, spoke about her experiences and the lessons she learned from her time in the Olympics.
“Even though I didn’t win the gold medal, I also benefited a lot from the fight. Everyone’s encouragement and support for me made me feel deeply once again that I’m not fighting alone. Standing behind me is my country and the people who have always supported me.”
Zou Jingyuan shared his hopes for the future, saying, “I want to have named moves on the parallel bars next year. In the new cycle, I still focus on the team. I will definitely win the gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics four years later.”
Interacting with Students
The champions also interacted closely with student representatives, leading them in various activities and exercises.
Zhang Yufei led a group of students in a pre-training warm-up dance for swimmers, while Cao Yuan demonstrated ground movements that simulated diving. Zou Jingyuan taught parallel bars, and Li Wenwen held a “weight lifting” competition with the students.
Inspiring Young Minds
The event was filled with constant applause, laughter, and cheers, as the champions showed their youthful vitality and used the positive energy of sports to inspire young students.
Li Wenwen expressed her hopes for the future, saying, “I want to let the world see the strength of Chinese weightlifting and the grace of Chinese athletes. I hope my story can inspire more young people to bravely follow their dreams.”
