Overseas Vietnamese Communities Unite to Support Compatriots Affected by Storm No. 3
On September 18, representatives of the Vietnamese community from around the world gathered at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to present donations in support of compatriots affected by storm No. 3.
The Vietnamese community living and working in Sokalov City, Czech Republic, donated 100 million VND. The Vietnamese Association in Westsachsen Zwickau City, Sachsen State, Federal Republic of Germany, contributed 9,500 Euro, while the Vietnamese Women’s Union in the Federal Republic of Germany donated 205 million VND. The Vietnamese community in Ekaterinberg City, Sverdlovsk Province, Russian Federation, also donated 154 million VND.
In addition to monetary donations, the family of Mr. Nguyen Khac Phuc, Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Khammouane Province, Laos, donated 400 rice cookers worth 200 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cong, representative of the Vietnamese Women’s Union in Germany, expressed her emotions while handing over the donation. She shared that despite living and working abroad, the Vietnamese community in Germany remains deeply connected to their homeland and closely follows news about their compatriots affected by storm No. 3.
“The losses suffered by our compatriots after storm No. 3 are immense, and we cannot help but feel deeply saddened. Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, we have mobilized and called for support for our compatriots in Vietnam who are suffering heavily after the storm and flood. This amount of money is not much, but it is the heart of those who are far away from home, the sentiment towards the Fatherland. We hope that this support will help our compatriots soon stabilize their lives, restore production, and develop,” said Ms. Cong.
From September 15-18, 2024, the “Compatriots’ Compassion” trucks, carrying over 60 tons of goods, were delivered by the Vietnam – Korea Business & Investment Association (VKBIA), Truc Lam Long Duc Zen Monastery (Dong Nai), and members to people in difficult circumstances and families of those injured or killed by storm No. 3 in Yen Bai province.
The goods included medical medicines, essential oils, rice, noodles, dry food, sausages, canned fish, canned food, milk, baby diapers, clothes, blankets, towels, pots and pans, household items, moon cakes, and other necessities. The total value of the items and cash support exceeded 1 billion VND.

Dr. Tran Hai Linh, President of VKBIA Association, shared that the spirit of mutual love and support among compatriots in the Central and Southern regions and overseas Vietnamese continues to grow, joining hands to minimize the damage caused by natural disasters. This, he said, is a testament to the great national unity of the Vietnamese people, who come together to support one another in times of need, regardless of region or geography.
