Reagan Film Soars to Amazon Best Sellers: A Biopic of the 40th President
“Reagan” Movie Tops Charts
The movie “Reagan,” which tells the story of former President Ronald Reagan, has topped Amazon’s Best Sellers list after its release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. The film, featuring Dennis Quaid as Reagan, was released on November 19 and quickly ascended to the top of Amazon’s Blu-ray sales over the weekend.
A press release noted that “Reagan” surpassed popular titles like “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse,” “Despicable Me 4,” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy.” The movie also performed well at the box office, ranking third behind “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Alien: Romulus” in its opening weekend.
Despite receiving a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film faced criticism from some left-wing critics. Quaid commented on the backlash, saying the film is not inherently political but a love story about America. He expressed confidence in his portrayal of Reagan, stating, “It’s a biopic… A lot of that gets twisted because people have agendas.”
Elya Baskin, another star of the film, highlighted the significance of his role as a Soviet defector. Baskin shared his views on America, noting that he once felt it was paradise compared to the Soviet Union. He expressed concern about the rise of Marxist ideology in American society, likening it to restrictions he faced in the Soviet Union.
Baskin called “Reagan” possibly the most important film of his career, framing his role as a warning about social and political changes in the U.S. He described the growing pressures on free expression, emphasizing the importance of the film in today’s political climate.
