Real Madrid Secures Hard-Fought Win Over Real Sociedad
Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe scored two second-half penalty kicks to give defending champions Real Madrid a hard-fought 2-0 win over hosts Real Sociedad in the Spanish Premier League on Saturday.
Real Madrid took the lead in the 58th minute when Vinicius scored from a penalty kick which Real Madrid won when midfielder Sergio Gomez handled the ball inside the penalty area. Mbappe sealed victory from the penalty spot in the 75th minute, after a foul committed by Vinicius in the area.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still in second place with 11 points, one point behind leaders Barcelona, who face Girona on Sunday.

The clash was tense and fast-paced, with both teams wasting multiple chances and the goal frame preventing Real Sociedad from scoring on three occasions.
Injury Concerns for Real Madrid
Real Madrid have suffered a number of injury absences including David Alaba, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Dani Ceballos in the days before they face Stuttgart at the start of their Champions League campaign.
In light of this absence, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti made 3 changes to his starting lineup that beat Betis before the international break.
The injury problem worsened early in the match when attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz was forced off the field in the 24th minute with a right leg muscle strain.
Real Sociedad’s Counter-Attacks
Real Sociedad often threatened on the counter-attack and almost scored with efforts from Luka Sucic and Ceraldo Becker, which rebounded onto the crossbar in the 25th and 39th minutes.
The goal frame prevented Sucic from scoring in the first attack of the second half, before Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a superb save from Igor Jubeldia’s header from close range.
