President Donald Trump’s Cabinet has seen three departures since March, with Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer being the latest to resign, marking ongoing leadership turnover early in his second term.

Chavez-DeRemer resigned on April 24, 2026, after facing an investigation by the Labor Department’s inspector general into potential misconduct, according to administration statements. She stated she was leaving to pursue an opportunity in the private sector after what the administration described as a “phenomenal job.”

Her resignation follows the departures of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was removed on March 5, 2026, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, who resigned weeks prior. These exits have drawn renewed attention to leadership stability within the administration.

Despite the turnover, key officials remain in place, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., all of whom were confirmed at the start of the term and continue to serve.

The administration said Chavez-DeRemer’s departure was amicable, with Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling set to serve as acting labor secretary. Chavez-DeRemer pushed back on allegations surrounding her tenure, claiming they were driven by political opponents and media coverage.

Sen. Kennedy has predicted more Cabinet exits may follow after the midterms, suggesting the trend of departures could continue as the administration navigates its second term.
