Recent Expansions of Cullman Regional, Walker Baptist, and Lakeland Community Hospitals
Cullman Regional Medical Center
Cullman Regional is a 175-bed hospital in north Alabama. It is the largest employer in Cullman County, employing 1,456 people.
The hospital recently finished a $30 million expansion. This project added 30 beds to critical care and medical surgical units. A new four-story bed tower has been built, along with major renovations to patient care areas and the main lobby.
This bed tower is part of a series of expansions. Previous projects included the ER expansion and outpatient facilities in Hartselle.
This year, Cullman Regional opened North Alabama’s newest Level II NICU. This addition includes a fourth OB/GYN physician, six neonatologists, and four neonatal nurse practitioners.
In the last three years, the hospital added over 30 physicians across various specialties. The use of robotic-assisted surgeries has also increased.

Walker Baptist Medical Center
Walker Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in Jasper with 267 beds and 525 employees. It has served the community since 1980.
The hospital provides various services, including emergency care for chest pain and stroke symptoms, cardiology, orthopedics, and psychiatric care.
Recently, it invested $1.9 million in new medical technology. This includes a 3D mammography suite, an ENT navigation system, and a Loop-X Mobile Robotic Imaging System.
In August, Orlando Health announced it would purchase Tenet Healthcare’s majority stake in Brookwood Baptist Health, which includes Walker Baptist Medical Center.

Lakeland Community Hospital
Lakeland Community Hospital is a 49-bed facility in Haleyville and the only health care provider in Winston County.
The hospital has a 24-hour emergency room and offers a range of services. These include acute care, emergency services, medical specialties, and rehabilitation.
Lakeland is a vital part of its community, providing services like ICU, home health, and family medicine clinics.
