Clarification on Recharge Card Prices
Recently, social media users shared a post claiming that Vodafone, Orange, We, and Etisalat have increased their recharge card prices. However, official sources have denied these claims.
It’s worth noting that any changes to mobile service prices or recharge card rates require approval from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority. As of now, the authority has not announced any recent price hikes for mobile companies.
Industry sources have confirmed that the units offered through recharge cards have been revamped, but the pricing structure remains unchanged. A new category of recharge cards has been introduced to cater to mobile demand without any modifications to the existing pricing structure.
In December, mobile companies informed their customers about a price increase of 10-17% for their services, including calls and mobile internet. This change was implemented in February and was attributed to higher operating costs due to high inflation rates.
The last price increase for mobile company services in Egypt occurred in 2017, followed by a 35% increase this year.
